Racing

We race in the MCSA division of the USCSA, through this organization we compete against colleges from across the Midwest including Northern Michigan, Wisconsin Madison, Minnesota twin cities, and Minnesota Duluth. Most of our races are citizen marathon races.  The race schedule changes year to year and will be covered fully at our fall informaitonal meeting. Questions regarding raceing, and MCSA participaiton can be sent to the club president.

The Noquemanon Ski marathon takes place in Marquette in late January. both classic and skate races are available with classic generally being more competitive.   The 25k is scored for the MCSA series, but club members are free to choose half or full distance races. Discounted registration is available for those racing in the MCSA. More information available here.

Mt. Ashwabay is located near Ashland Wisconsin, The scored race is a 30k skiathlon (half classic, half skate), with 30k and 15k races also available in both skate and classic. The club stays near the venue the night before and travels back after the race. More information available here.

MCSA regional championships  take place in Rhinelander Wisconsin. There are multiple races over the course of the weekend. The club gets lodging near the venue for the weekend. To compete at these races skiers must have participated in another MCSA race that same season.

The Birke is north Americas largest ski race. It takes place in Hayward Wisconsin and is a point to point race spanning 50 kilometers. This is a huge race and it is strongly recommended to register early to get better wave placement and cheaper registration fees. More information about the Birke is available here.

Additional Races

Outside of the MCSA series many club members compete in the great bear chase at the swede town trails, and the MTU ski team puts ona few fundraiser rases throughout the winter for those looking for a more relaxed racing environment, or just more races.
